Artist's Statement
Working hard at creating portraits, still life and landscape paintings that will live beyond the grave captivates me. As a painter of portraits the brushes that I use are tools used to convey the likeness of a person seated before me, the likeness of the mind and life.
Initially self-taught in the visual arts as an abstract expressionist, inspired by the paintings of Brother Eric of Taize, I have been painting landscapes since the early '70's. In 2001, fast approaching mid-life, I decided to study portraiture and still life painting in the realist style and the search was on for an Atelier. Having the support of my husband David, I found and studied exclusively at the Studio and School of Tom Ouellette. Mr. Ouellette, an award winning Artist from Boston's Historic Fenway Studios, has largely guided my artistic talent to where it is today and I am most grateful for his tutelage.
